INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES/WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

At the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an increased understanding of combat stress
  • Describe the basic SFBT tools & techniques used with veterans
  • Use a variety of specialised tools and techniques for helping personnel move further towards living life well/as full as possible
  • Recognise how the specialised techniques can be applied to other types of stress or trauma
  • List the main points service users have made about how workers can best be helpful
  • Name the pitfalls when working with combat stress and/or other types of stress or trauma
  • Highlight the most helpful and useful questions to ask veterans
  • List the key ways workers can look after themselves to enable them to undertake this important work
  • Feel more confident in their work with a wide range of service users who have experienced combat stress; and other types of stress or trauma
